ROTARY DISTRICT 9320 - “MINI-GRANT” FUND

At POETS 2008, the District Assembly approved the extension of the “Mini-Grant Fund”:

 

bulletUse some of the surplus reserves that have built up in District 9320
bulletEncourage communication and participation between Rotary clubs in District 9320 in a community project.
bulletTo direct refunds not claimed by many Rotarians when performing District duties to worthy causes. (Any surplus of income over expenditure is accumulated in the District’s reserves).

 

1 The Fund
A Fund is established within District 9320 for a trial period of one year.

 

2 Funding
The Fund will be allocated R60,000 from the accumulated reserves from District 9320.

 

3 Purpose
The purpose of the Fund is to provide “Mini-Grants” to Rotary Clubs in District 9320. The grants will be for R3000 and will be equal to half the combined contributions from the Principal and Supporting Clubs. (See example below) A Rotary Club shall only be entitled to apply for one grant.

 

4 Support and Contributions
The Principal Rotary Club (making the application) must have the support of another Rotary Club (Supporting Club) anywhere in the world (including District 9320) to substantiate the effort and need for the project. The contribution from the Supporting club must be equal to half of what the Principal Club is contributing to the project.

Example of the funding from the “Mini-Grant” will be:

District 9320 “Mini Grant” (50% of R6000) R 3,000
Total R 9,000

 

5 Limitations on the Mini-Grants
Funds may only be used for the benefit of persons/institutions in need of the following:
bulletEducation; health; the provision of water, electricity and sanitation; skills development; equipment and the restoration or renovation of buildings.
bulletNo funds may be used for the payment of wages and salaries to any person whatsoever.

 

6 Administration of the Fund
bulletThe Finance Committee of Rotary District 9320 will administer the Fund.
bulletThe Principal Rotary Club must complete the Mini-Grant application form and after obtaining the Supporting Rotary Club’s approval, submit it by fax or post to the District Treasurer with a deadline date of 15 August 2007. (No exceptions will be allowed).
bulletThe Finance Committee shall adjudicate the applications and announce the successful grants at Conference in September 2007.
bulletThe Principal Rotary Club will submit a “Statement of Expenditure” to the District Treasurer within 6 weeks of having received the Mini-Grant funds.
